My Brooke is 5!
What a fun kid!
Brooke has been obsessed with two things this year, Batman and the Packers. What does that tell you about this girl? We have a tomboy on our hands! When I asked Brooke what she wanted for her birthday........a packer football and batman stuff!
She has liked the packers since they won the Superbowl last year. She has found a special bond with Grandpa Rehfeldt over the packers. When we went to Ohio for Thanksgiving Brooke asked me as lease a dozen times to pack her packer shirt so she could show grandpa. I ended up forgetting it (mother of the year...right?). Brooke was so bummed that she didn't have it to wear on thanksgiving for the packer game. She borrowed one of grandpas hats and watched the game. During halftime she insisted Grandpa take her outside and play football with her.
I have a "let kids be kids" approach when it comes to early education. I don't like pushing my kids to learn things. But Brooke blows this theory out of the water. Brooke loves to learn. She asks to do workbook pages and learn her sight word flashcards. I hope she keeps this thirst for learning and it turns into being a good student.
Brooke learned how to read this year. She can count to 100 and count to 100 by tens. She can write the alphabet in upper and lower case letters. She can write number up to 30. She has started understanding simple addition and subtraction. Basically she is SO ready for kindergarten.
Brooke is extra sensitive about sad parts of movies. She will break into tears at any movie. Even if someone is sad in a movie, Brooke will be crying. Once in a movie theater she started to sob so loud I almost had to take her out. We talk about how life is sad sometimes and that is OK. She doesn't buy it. She has a black list of movies included The Lion King and Nomeo and Juliet to name a few.
Brooke is still my dare devil. She is "act first ask questions after I am laying on the ground crying". This quirk also makes her quite fun because she will try anything. She is also really brave. I guess that goes along with being a dare devil. I always say she will be bungee jumping with her dad while Abby and I are at the mall!
What a great sense of humor she has. Brooke loves to tell jokes and make people laugh. She is getting pretty funny. She can make a witty comeback that will have me laughing hard.
Brooke's favorite color is blue. She loves to wear her packer t-shirt. Her favorite food is grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Brooke has a big year ahead of her. The first of two surgeries is in just 1 week. We have a move to Washington coming up. Kindergarten will be starting in the fall. Hopefully that will keep her busy for a while! :)
