Brooke is reading!!
I wasn't too worried about getting Brooke to read before Kindergarten. I it thought it would be fun to buy her some sight word flash cards and do them every once in a while.
It just made me frustrated!!
Bryan said he would like to take a crack at it and a few days later Brooke was reading!!
It's slow and she still needs lots of help but she is doing a great job!
I am very proud of her!

That is so awesome. Way to go Brooke. Have any helpful tips? Jonny is wanting so badly to learn. What did you guys do to get Brooke reading?
We started with some sight words as flash card and talking about the letter sounds. Then we made up a game. Green and Red pieces of paper in a box. The green pieces of paper have simple words on them. As long as they draw a green paper they have to read the word and then draw again. When they draw a red paper the turn is over. This works great because she thinks she is winning when she has to read.
After she was comfortable sounding out words we started reading book together. Bryan would read a story and stop and have her read the words she knew.
