Two Week Check Up

Yesterday Abby was 2 weeks old. She had her check up today. When in the hospital the doctor heard a heart murmur and we had a echocardiogram done. The test was sent to Boise to be read and we just got the results. Abby has two holes in her heart. One between the two top ventricles and one between the bottom two ventricles. This makes her heart work harder then most. A murmur is not uncommon but two is. The good news is, she is a healthy baby. If she wasnt gaining wieght, or if she had bad color, or in general not doing well, they would have to talk about doing surgery now. Since she is healthy we have time to wait and see if the holes close, which is not uncommon. If the holes do not close and Abby stays healthy she will not have to have surgery to fix them until she is much older. We were told that the murmurs on the top usually close but ones on the bottom do not close as often. We will meet with a cardiologist in Jan to see where we go from here. This cardiologist comes from the same childrens hospital in Utah that Brooke goes to for her ear, but she comes up here once a month. We are excited to save a trip down to utah.

I will admit I was feeling a bit "why us" on the way home from the doctor. After our hearing issues with Brooke this was not the best news. But we are lucky in so many other ways. We would not give either of these girls up or change who they are. This is just the chalenge the Lord saw fit for us. I know he will not test us past anything we can handle. These little girls must have known we would fight for them and do what is best when they decided to be our children. We love them both so much.
